Tofu is used in Japan in many ways. One of these is very simple: the slices of Tofu are cooked in boiling water (you may put a bit of seaweed in the water). It is served during the winter as follows: you take a lump of tofu from the boiling water and put it in a bowl containing soya sauce. You may spread on this a number of items (including some chives and some seaweed).
And that’s all.
It is delicious!
With the meal (« yodofu set ») you are given some pickles, some tempura, some mochi and rice.
Yodofu is served in many restaurants, but it seems that the area close to the Zen temple Nanzenji is most renown for it
Between the pickles one was extraordinary: pickles seaweed. We spent all afternoon looking for it!

The restaurant we chose. An obvious choice.

The plate of pickles. Darkest is the seaweed.
